Both belong to the “kake futon” (quilt) category, meaning they are bedding used to cover the body. A hadakake futon is simply the lighter version, using about half the amount of cotton compared to a regular kake futon. The main difference lies in warmth: Kake futon: Warmer, thanks to a thicker cotton filling that traps heat. Hadakake futon: Lighter, more breathable, and helps prevent overheating while still providing gentle coverage. In Japan, kake futons are typically used for three seasons except summer, while hadakake futons are more common for three seasons except winter.
