Description Malossi Unrestricted TC Unit (CDI) for Aprilia / Piaggio 50cc 2T Models The Malossi TC replacement unit is much larger than the stock unit. The coil section of the Malossi unit is far larger; to provide much greater spark. Each electronic coil model was expressly studied for the scooter it will be fitted on, and this is the reason why after endless tests on the bench, on rollers and on the racing track an optimal start up map (fixed or variable) has been prepared in order to obtain the best performances of the vehicle. This CDI is designed to do two things. It has no rev limit. The standard CDI in every single Aprilia / Piaggio / Vespa 50cc 2T scooter has a rev limiter that kicks in right around 10,000 RPM. In normal circumstances you would never notice it, however higher level cylinder kits with a Bridge Port (Such as the Malossi MHR Racing Cylinder Kit) needs to rev to approximately 12,000 RPM to run properly. The Malossi TC Unit is a bolt in part, that immediately removes the factory restriction, and will get the cylinder up into the rev range its designed to run at. It drastically increases the spark. The factory coil and CDI is an all in one unit, which is super handy to work on. Malossi have increased the coil, so much so that it has become its own unit seperate from the CDI. More spark, means more efficient fuel burning, which means more power potential. Like the RPM limit this feature is only really useful on bridge port cylinder kits, which have the ability to draw a significant amount more fuel into the cylinder to be burned.
