It is the magnetic half of the alternator (or magneto), working in conjunction with the stationary Stator Coil Plate Assembly. It is often simply referred to as the Rotor or, in many designs, it is integrated into the engine’s Flywheel, forming a Flywheel Magneto. �� Key Functions of the Magnet Rotor The rotor serves two primary, essential functions in a motorcycle: Electrical Power Generation (Charging System) Permanent Magnets: The rotor is a cup-shaped or cylindrical component mounted directly on the end of the engine’s crankshaft. Embedded within its circumference are powerful permanent magnets (alternating North and South poles). Inducing Current: As the engine runs, the rotor spins rapidly around the stationary stator coils.
