Many scooters with floor mounted fuel tanks use this vacuum operated fuel pump / tap to supply fuel to the engine, as the fuel wont naturally gravity feed like most scooters. If these pumps develop even a very small leak they will not operate anymore. Replacement is fairly simple and is realistically the only option as these units are factory sealed and usually cant be repaired. It’s highly recommended to replace all fuel and vacuum lines at the same time, as these are often the cause for fuel leaks, and vacuum issues – for which the pump is highly dependant.
